EFCT and Attachment


Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) are based in Attachment Theory..


Attachment Theory is the work of John Bowlby who wrote 3 volumes on Attachment and Loss. 


Attachment refers to the emotional bonds we make throughout our lifespan.  According to how we bonded with our primary caregiver as infants, our Attachment style is determined. 

In EFCT and EFIT our Attachment blueprints come to the surface. And can be addressed and healed where necessary.  

The healing comes as the client or couple feel in the safety of the therapeutic alliance, that they can be vulnerable and have those vulnerabilities met. 
As Christians we work by the power of the Holy Spirit who brings the ultimate healing.
